About LBH Tutoring

My name is Lucia Heese (they, them), using Lucia and Bex interchangably. 

As a student I constantly worried about the red ink that might mark up my assignments - creative, scholarly, or otherwise. Through conversation with those who held the red pen, I developed confidence in my learned writing skills. Then, I became the one holding the metaphorical red pen and I did not want to instill the same fear of writing feedback. Through 3 years of working at Santa Clara University's HUB Writing Center, I am experienced in a variety of writing forms, citaiton styles, and learning styles including but not limited to: 

• Creative writing (poetry, screen- and playwriting)
• scholarly writing (research, literary review)
• application writing (career, academic)
• Chicago, MLA, and APA citation styles
• dyslexia, auditory and visual disabilities, autism
• multi-lingual writers (where English is not the first langauge) 

At LBH Tutoring, I  work with writers so they develop confidence in their ability to navigate the writing process (brainstorming, outlining, drafting, and revising) through a casestudy approach for writing peices in individual sessions. My focus is on the writer; I endeavor to never mark up a page in red ink but rather  engage with the one behind the writing: the writer.
